Islands National Marine Sanctuary
CHALLENGE: Inform a multi-cultural audience about
water quality issues in order to protect the ocean
SOLUTION:
• Train a team of youth to do marketing survey to assess needs,
obstacles and best methods for reaching the target audience.
• Develop a creative marketing strategy based on results of
research that includes print materials, advertising, public relations,
and community engagement. .
• Implement strategy as needed by the client.
Above is
the first piece, a bus poster, that was developed for the
campaign. A cartoon contest was held in the junior and high
schools of Ventura and Santa Barbara Counties. The top 20 entrants
received a trip to the Santa Cruz Islands to learn about the
Sanctuary. They were also treated to a cartoon workshop by
noted Mad Magazine cartoonist, Sergio Aragones. The winning
cartoon is on bus posters throughout both counties. |
